WVO on ships

I will get some pics of my other PODs installs. The other MBs are on a trip now.

Celebrity & Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines do run on WVO (sorta). Both fleets take the used Waste veggie oil from onboard and filter/burn it in with the bunker fuel. A portion of the fleets use Gas Turbine engines (jet turbines from GE). These engines have been "tweaked" to run on biodiesel.

For the last couple of years RCCL (parent company of the fleets) were the single largest user of biodiesel in most of the world.

Hi! First post here. I went with individual pods on my old car, 4 on the pillar, 2 on the column, and 2 in the ash tray location. Too many gauges for a generic pod to take care of my needs.

The pillar looked great until I caught the topmost gauge with my head, then it looked ok. I had to move the gauge down a bit for a better mounting location. Angle was never just right with them anyway, but it worked well enough to not be noticed generally.

Currently working on making myself a more refined pillar pod for this, the individual pods are very hard to clean, and the pillar is not a great long term attachment place.

The column was a great place, if you had an aftermarket steering wheel, I could see as many as 4, but two fit very nicely with the oem wheel. Ash tray also worked pretty well, but again, as said earlier in the thread, not a great place to constantly be looking while driving. Better location for less important gauges.

my 2 cents.

Thats the one I put into my SD. VDO cockpit series gauges were the closest I found to the original.

That's another pretty clean looking install. A couple of questions.
1) Did you have to re-mold the pillar pod to fit the curve of the pillar?
2) What brand of pillar pod is it and what model car was it meant to fit?

I never realized how much different the pillars are between the coupes and sedans. In the pictures posted by both you and Marybeth the top of the pillar appears to be nearly the same width and curvature as the bottom. On my coupe the top is much narrower and has much more curvature to its face.

I used my heat gun to mold it over the pillar over. Of course this was out of the car. After that, a razor blade and dremel got me the curves and edges I wanted. Just don't overheat it. Not good.

At the expense of sounding like a chauvinist pig, gauges are like attractive girls, you can never have too many to look at.

I just kept finding one in a catalog that I was interested in, and installing it in the car without thinking about it. Eventually It occurred to me that maybe I had gone a little far, but it was fun to drive. heres a link to a little youtube video of how they look lit- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzAzX9hp_gI
I was trying to record exhaust note, but for some reason the camera picked up only the radio which was a lot quieter than it seems. Still, you get an idea of the gauge setup

I sold that car (rust and damage) and am working on another one, but yes, it had a VO system in it with twin VO tanks.

The gauge setup was-
Boost
VO tank1 level
VO tank2 level
Fuel restriction before lift pump
EGT
Fuel pressure after lift pump
Supply fuel temp
Return fuel temp

Apart from the fuel system, tranny conversion, rear end swap, exhaust, and larger tires, the car was totally stock. I just like to watch all that stuff and be surrounded by blinking lights.
