autom button speed question

I have a 1984 300SD. When using the automatic "autom" button
for the climate control fan speed, it starts at speed 2 and works
its way up to speed 5 and always stops at that higher speed.

How do I get the blower to stop at one of the middle blower speed settings?

Thanks
Jeff

mine eventually slows down when the air temp in the car gets cooler (or warmer, depending...). It does take a little while sometimes and I get fed up with waiting for it to slow down, so I usually put it on low.

The blower speed depends on the differential between the vehicle interior temperature and the setpoint.

If the setpoint is 20°C. and the interior of the vehicle is 30°C, it's going to sit on the #5 blower speed position for quite awhile until the temp. drops to 23°C or so.........then, and only then, will the blower speed begin to slow down.

If the temperature never gets close to 20°C., the blower will never leave the #5 position.
