Transmission Leak Under C-Clip on Passanger side

1982 300SD

I have a leak on the passenger side above the oil-pan. It coming out where there is a c-clip holding in something.

Anyone, know if I can just pull the c-clip and replace a o-ring (I assume) or does it open a can of worms?

Tried a search and read back 15 pages no luck.

Cheers
David

Sounds like the B2 piston cover? If so, a pretty common problem. Dieselgiant has a great DIY writeup of that exact problem. B2 isn't tooooo bad if you're not replacing the whole piston and bushing

It could be the B1 or the B2 piston cover. The B1 is the large circular cover up front by the filler tube and the B2 is slightly larger one toward the back. Both on the passenger side.

The B2 is the easier to remove and replace as the B1 piston has a MUCH stronger set of springs behind it. I had to make a special tool to press the cover in to remove the C-clip.
