ABS Problem

I have a 1987 300 TDT and the ABS light comes on after a couple of miles of driving. The brakes will shutter before the light comes on when it is dry like the ABS is being engaged. Where or how are these units set up? I imagine they are quite simple by todays standard but is it most likely speed sensors at the wheels? or is there something that is more likely the cause?

Most likely sensors - unplug and test for each for continuity.

Also look at the tonewheels and sensors... see that they aren't covered in rust and crap.
