Removing 560 SEL Parts for 300sdl WHAT SHOULD I LOOK FOR?
I am removing the entire interior and other parts off a 91 560 sel for a 300sdl and need some tips on removing the carpet, seats, dash, headliner, steering wheel, console, rear seat back, and parcel shelf.
ANY tips would be lovely!!

Wished you lived closer, I would love to help. You can probably do all of that in less than a day if you aren't out in the hot sun and high humidity.
Quickest Dash removal was 2 hours for me. Front seats WITH a good battery and key --- less than an hour per seat with interruptions from wife and kids. Back seat --- bottom in 3 minutes; back in 15minutes; Shelf -- must remove the trim along the back edge of back doors (lower trim on C pillar) and then upper trim along the C pillar before removing the shelf; I had a helper 30 minutes --- don't forget the screws in the shelf compartments!!! In order to remove the carpet, you must first remove the door sill trim pieces --- hard to do without breaking. BE CAREFUL. B pillars probably have to come out before carpet --- 2 screws on the bottom. OH.....I think you have to remove the center console before the carpet. Remove the ashtray; then 2 screws on the bottom of the ashtray frame --- take the frame out; then take the radio out; then remove the 2 screws underneath the ACC (if like my 300SDL); then upper switch panel. Take out the shifter console surround wood trim. The center console (big piece) has 2 screws in the top front area near the dash --- remove these. Then remove the screw in the console carpet area underneath where the driver's arm rest would be above the carpet area. The screw is underneath the carpet. There is also a cable that connects the rear seat center vent to the flaps up front --- when you go to lift up on the center console you will see the cable. The hardest part are getting the front seat outs if you don't have a battery and a key. Blah, blah, blah. I could probably do the stuff you are planning blindfolded...just not as fast.

Grab the heated seat wiring and rear power / heated wiring. The 91 will also have different seat memory controllers then your 86/87. As you noted grab the steering wheel because it will be leather on the later car.

Can you remove the steering wheel with a standard steering wheel puller? Any tips or secrets?

I don't know if you even need a puller. Just remove the two allen cap screws to remove the airbag, unplug it, then remove the bolt holding the wheel on.

Once you get the air bag out of the way, you just loosen the bolt in the center and tap upward on the back of the steering wheel. Mine have all popped off of the splines very easily.

Follow the instructions that someone else has already posted!!! That's what I did. I had read these about 5 times and had them pretty much committed to memory when I pulled the first dash.....or maybe I pulled the first one in the garage. I don't remember.

You probably won't need a puller to remove the steering wheel. I removed a steering wheel from an 87 300D without one.
A word of caution. Disconnect the battery before removing the airbag. You don't want it to blow up in your face accidentally.

Is this why my seat memory doesn't work in the SDL when I put in seats from a '91 560SEL.

There are three screws that hold the front edge of the dash near the windshield. Two are behind the speaker grills and one in the center between the defroster outlets. There's a cover that you pop off to find it. Then there are two screws behind the A/C control wood panel that attach the center console to the dash. Also there are two bolts at the bottom of the dash at each corner attaching it to the car body itself.
To pull out the dash after it is unbolted, you start by pulling it slightly out on the right side and then pulling it down. Hope this helps somewhat.

Hey all i am working on dismantling the 560 however due change of schedule I will be traveling back to Seattle next weekend to tear it apart. The car is someone's personal car that had a bad engine. It is parked on his commercial rental property. This change of schedule is almost a relief because I want to get familiar with pulling int components before I just go at it blindly. Thank you all for you help and I continue reading your tips and tricks.
