Question White smoke upon starting; Now engine won't turn over after 2 turns of the key

Hi all,

First time poster, long time reader. I love this site. On with the show(problem). About two weeks ago noticed a foul sulphurous odor coming through the vents after running a bit too fast on the I-10 (80-85 mph for no more than 15 mins.) while driving my 85 300D Turbo Diesel. Black smoke while accelerating quickly had been a problem two weeks prior to that. Afterwards, my car would have a bit of a problem starting in the morning after sitting through the night. Once, started smooth sailing. Did a diesel purge the following weekend but still had a huge plume of noxious smelling white smoke upon start up. The hesitant start up continued this past week until yesterday when I didn't use my car @ all.

Now my sweet Benz has gots nuthin. It'll turn over 2-3 times before having nothing left to give. Just a click. Two month old battery, new belts that are 4 months old.

I am waiting for a new brake booster line to come tomorrow b/c the valve nipple broke off, therefore, i'm manually having to shut the car off (this may be irrelevant, just putting it out there).

Thanks for any feedback,

Daniel
