617 injectors in a '61 190D?

Hey guys,

Just checked the local craigslist and theres a 1961 190 Diesel that turns over but is missing injectors and a battery (!) for $950 cdn. I'm wondering if i can toss four of my spare 617 injectors into it. Will they fit? i've also got a spare battery.

Thanks,
George

I say 50% not because I am not sure.
The older Injectors were sealed on the Injector Nut rim with a Copper or Aluminum Crush Washer and the return lines were series of Brass Banjos connected by Brass Tubing with a threaded connector on one end to attach a Rubber return hose with a fitting.
I do not know if the external Injector nut threads would match either.

Look in the upper left hand corner at the above site.

Here is a pic of what I believe the 190D looks like.
Red Arrow points to a nut that holds the Brass Banjo fitting against the Injector.
The hard to see Purple Arrow points to the Banjo fitting itself.
Harder to see in the pic is that about 1/2 inch or more of the Spray Nozzle protrudes out from the Nut that Holds the Spray Nozzle to the Injector.

According to the chart at the above site less than 62,000 190Db types were made.

If it is a 190Dc, then I would say they should fit. As has been stated, the attachement of the fuel return lines is completely different, but I would think the newer style hoses could be retrofitted if need be. Also, the injectors may pop off at a different pressure, but this can also be adjusted with shims in the injector. This would require an injector testor. I would think a non-turbo 617 injector would be close enough to work.
