When the 116's, 123's and 126's were new, many of MB the dealers put Quaker State 30W in them, particularly in the southern states. Many of those cars are still getting 3,000 mile oil changes with Quaker State 30W and have 200-300-400-500thousand miles on them - many still driven by the original owners.
So I suppose the real answer to the oil questions is: if you religously change your oil every 3K, it probably doesn't matter what you use.
