There have been a couple in the family. My Uncl Eddie had one and put a 3.55 (I think) rear in it. He used it to go up north and back with his family on weekends. He routinely got 25mpg with his family in it, and had hit the upper 20s on ocasion. He ran it to over 300,000 miles when the Wisconsin rust claimed it. He always said it was the best family hauler, but had a powerstroke diesel for the heavy hauling.

I used to own a '82 Blazer 4X4 with the 6.2 in it. It got around 26-27 mpg, but was lacking in power. I really liked it other than the power issue.

If you don't mind a slow take-off, it will run all day at 65-70 mph with no complaints. I never did try to tow with mine, so I can't speak to that.

In that price range, I'd say get it - if it's in good shape.

Yes I do have a lot going on, but what else is new? The burb wouldn't be a project right now anyways. Just another vehicle.

I haven't bought the burb yet. I went and looked at it last week. I doesn't have the 3rd row so that is a bit of a dissapointment. It had a bit more rust than I thought and I the interior coloring was a bit ugly.

There are a couple 6.5s for sale now that I want to look at. They are high mileage compared to the 6.2 I went and looked at.

We will see.

Well, I bought one. A 1994 Chevrolet 2500 4x4 with 211k on the clock.

It is in remarkably good shape for the miles on it.

Still learning about it.

For a diesel truck, the 5.9l Cummins ISB is the best engine around IMO. Very reliable, great power, straight-6 smoothness. Love it. This same engine was used in lots of heavy construction equipment, school buses, military applications, etc. It's a proven design.

the 700R4 should be road tested. I had one that wouldnt go into overdrive when it got hot. The prices on those transmissions are pretty good though. I have the 6.2 in my Jeep. I like it.

I for one frequent many forums for the diffrent hobbies I have. I know there are some 6.5/6.2 forums out there with many experts on that subject just as there are here on Mercedes.
