The only W123 Turbo Diesel available in Europe was the wagon.
So, if you're talking sedan, it is a non-turbo.
Kind of like the US 77-81 sedans, but a slightly different injection pump.

Cosmetically, bumpers, lights, interior trim, manual a/c vs. ACCIII. Manual windows, sunroof on some, etc.

240D

Basically a 240D with a 617 engine and skinny bumpers.

Jay.

I can't speak for the turbodiesel, because this was not a popular Euro model. I have experience with Euro vs. US 240D's and I can tell you some of the differences with them:

Euro cars have:

no crash bracing in doors
shorter bumpers with no shock absorbing mounts
euro lights
usually have lower level trim with MBTex or cloth interior. Sometimes no wood trim
no oil cooler
Bosch instead of American Bosch IP
usually manual windows and sunroof, but sometimes elect. front windows with manual rear windows
usually no a/c - the ones I've had were aftermarket a/c installed in the US
trunk triangle
different wiring for fog lights. They will work with headlights on
vacuum operated headlight leveler
single side park lights

Those are the things that come to me without thinking about it very much.

Thanks - Good information.

So the basic engine and driveline are the 'ol faithfull' we are accustomed to, and have come to love?

Are there any issues with getting parts for the Euro models?

I was told the car is a turbo - so that will be the first thing I look for...

If it's a turbo sedan then the engine's american. Only wagons came in turbo in europe.
There are various small differences, and those different parts can be hard to find. The lights are all different for one, although putting in american lights is easy. If it's a nonturbo engine then you have to use nonturbo parts. The transmission might be different, and you'd have to figure out which american model came with the same one.
I'd be trying figure out whether it's a euro with an american engine or an american car with euro parts.

The easiest way to see if it is a Euro or US model is to open the hood and look for the vin tag which is where you will find it on a Euro model. If it has the vin tag on the inside of the drivers side windshield pillar, it's a US model.
