New member and owner of a 1973 220D!

I'm the proud new owner of a 1973 220D. It is currently not running but it shouldn't be hard getting her running again.

She was purchased new by the previous owner, has unknown miles (odo stuck at 180k). The car has been sitting for two years in the barn/shed but it is 100% complete with no body damage. I'll post pics when I get a chance.

Known issues:
-there's still old fuel in the tank
-one caliper is frozen
-there's no coolant in the radiator but i see 'salt crystals' when i take the cap off
-minimal rust
-a/c is shot

That's it. I'll be consulting experts from here I'm sure.

-Ben

What is an injector oil fill?

I would probably drain out the fuel depending on the quantity although 2 years ain't that long.

Definitely chk integrity of engine cooling system. Also, chk condition of belts. You'll probably notice other things once you get it started.

Cool, right in the neighborhood... I've been seeing a cream colored W115 in a yard under a cover over on hwy 86 in Hillsborough for a few years now. I've been waiting for someone to suck it up...

There is a oil fill for the injector pump. Look for the OEL dipstick on it. It was used on the earlier diesels.

30 weight non-detergent. Change it once a year or whenever you remember. Not exactly critical as there is always some slight leakage of diesel fuel into the resevoir but it's nice to renew it every once in a while. Drain and fill.
