Snap On FHBF80

Bent-handle 3/8" ratchet (mine is actually the older "936" version; I have an FLF80, and LOVE it). The PERFECT tool for the upper bolt on the RS motor mount on the 124 turbodiesel! Man, that one is a bear to get to! My entire forearm was covered in grease. One of the guys I share my shop with said "It looks like you just shoved your arm up a cow's a**!" I wish I had; it probably would have been less toxic, and certainly would have washed off more easily.

All-in-all, though, I'd say it was easier to change these out than it is on the 123's. Beautiful little parts! Too bad they are buried down in the nether regions of the doghouse. I guess, though, for what they cost, they ought to be beautiful.

The good times just keep rollin' on this one. Did the L thrust arm, but still have a wiggle when I mash the accelerator. I'm just gonna' replace everything on that side. I think I'm obsessing! Now that I can hear something other than the engine - the mounts were completely shot, the L one was in three pieces - I can confirm that the wheel bearings (at least on the RF) are rumbling. Oh, and the brakes pads that were "recently done" are down to 20%, if that. Yup!

Looks like the manifold has to come off to get to the glow plugs?

Cheers!

Jay.

THere are some here who have said that glowplugs are doable with the manifold on, but it takes longer that way than pulling the manifold to do it.

I pulled the engine.

Speaking of glowplugs, I just had to do them for the second time on my 87. The Bosch ones didnt last 2 years. I tried Meyhle ones this time. They were made in slovenia.
