I just recently had this problem with my 300CD...I bought an entire new door handle (includes brand new key and tumbler) from the MB Classic Center, and installed it, but my key still wouldn't turn! It ended up being a bent linkage in the door latch mechanism. It's cover was missing, and looked like it had been tampered with, which caused it to bend when the door was closed (probably slammed). Anyway, I'm still waiting on my replacement latch mechanism. I'll report back once I install it.

Good point. I've actually got my front door open right now, so i have access to the whole linkage. (I fixed some rust yesterday and am waiting on my new door check to arrive in the mail before I reassemble) I wonder if there's a Mercedes Driver's Side Front Door Lock Linkage Grease (part # please?) that I should be applying while I have the chance. =)

YMMV.
I think I'm going to shoot some White Lightning in, which is this great bicycle lubricant that we have. It's thin, but not like WD-40. It should stay.

New door handle and mechanism fixed by problem...no surprise, that's pretty much every part of the locking system lol.

Also, I lubricated the linkage and window slides with a product called "Green Grease", for those interested. It's a waterproof, multipurpose grease.

This problem was solved a while ago, but two days ago, I couldn't get my key into either drivers or passenger side handle lock. I assumed water had frozen in there somehow, but today it was warm out and it goes in but doesn't turn. If I wiggle it up and down first, it'll turn. Are these tell tale signs of a failing tumbler? It worked great until two days ago.

I had that problem recently, too. After a shot of LPS-1, it's as smooth as butter.
