Set up trans to only shift down to 2nd
Is there a way to set up the current trans on my 300CD Turbo so it won't shift down into 1st, just down to 2nd. All the remaining gears work in the trans, it's just that I have to rev the engine to 2k rpm to get the car to start moving, then feather the throttle until the trans shifts to second, then she moves just fine.
I have been unemployed since the end of July and really can't afford to have the trans rebuilt right now.

I remember reading something about the way you move the lever when stopped or some such thing that would cause the tranny to start in 2nd for ice/snow conditions.
Sorry, I don't know the details but a search may be fruitful.

If you are willing to remove the valve body, it would be easy to insert a spacer or spring against the face of the 1-2 command valve plunger, which should prevent downshifts to first gear.
Alternatively, loosening/dissconnecting the throttle cable might also be helpful, but could cause other complications. Last edited by tangofox007; 09-16-2009 at 10:55 AM. |

and, still incase you didnot read your other post...
look into the B2 piston repair. it should fix your 1st gear issues.
