603 weight? Any guesses?

Hi everybody!
I'm considering pulling the engine from my old sdl parts car to dissect. I'm curious to see what killed it and I'd like to solve an oil leak on my car, seeing the headgasket should help... I hope. After looking at my engine hoist I'm honestly concerned it may not be capable of lifting a 603, anybody know what one weighs?

Engine + accessories bolted to it is probably around 500-600lbs I would guess....add 150 if the trans is still attached A 617 (with iron head vs. aluminum 603) is around 750ish.....with the trans attached.

I have a 2 ton Harbor Freight crane and it can easily handle a 617 + transmission in the 1/2 ton setting. (Fully extended arm) It had minimal flex as you can see here....

Well under the 1/2 ton with transmission and accessories. Mine lifted the SDL drivetrain complete without trouble, but my 1000lb backup generator twisted it.

Thanks guys. I'm much more confident now. I just kept thinking... 5000lb car a lotta that's gotta be the engine right? But I guess most of my boats weight is elsewhere!

Its not a 5000lb car....its about a 3900-4100lb car + whatever is in it.

My 300SD with me, full tank of fuel, and some junk in the trunk, scored about 4250 on the scales. (and I am 180)

I just noticed in the above picture, whats up with the back of the grille? Is it just the camera or does it look solid?

It's because of the angle of the picture.
