Question lock assembly

On a w123 i have a weird sticky feeling ignition lock assembly, ive had it out 3 times, it turns super smooth once its out but when back in and threaded it seems to get a little stuck right after the accessory point, was i to maybe clean and or lube before i threaded it, i mean the well not the assembly, i know not to lube the assembly, i did use some graphite in it.

I think you are talking about the ignition tumbler switch?

Is the key hard to turn? do you have to shake the steering wheel? If so, time to replace the lock tumbler. take your registration and proof of ownership to the dealer and order a new tumbler. It will come with a new key.

When you replace the tumbler and thread on the black collar, back off the collar slightly, you will hear a click. then the key should go past the accessory point. you don`t want the collar tightened all the way down.

Hello,
I see you have removed your ignition switch 3 times. I'm getting ready to do the same. Can you give me any pointers on how to do it? Does the dash need to be removed? Any special tools? Any help would be appreciated.

I have the special tool, but a heavy paper clip will work good as well.
TAhe special tool has a loop that helps you when it gets a littel tough to turn the black cap, if using the paper clip a pair of pliers helps you keep the clip in place in order to keep using your left hand to turn and turn away.
First insert key and turn it to accessory point, then insert clip and wiggle just a hair back and forth untill you can turn black neck collar? i think its called, pardon me i just kniow how to do it.
when the pin depresses the right spot at the acc point the neck or colar will turn cc, keep with your right hand maybe with the pliers if things are a bit tough to move until the black collar comes out, take it out og there, study it and youll see exactly how you did it, carefully do it backwards, please notice exactly where the little markings are on the cylinder so that youll have an idea how much to turn, when new cyl is back in and collar all the way turned, go back a tiny hair and youll hear a click sound, you're there!
no oils of any kind.
