84 300sd should i buy?

I am going to look at a 84 300sd tomorrow, the guy only wants $500 for it. he says the body and interior are fine. the transmission is fine and it starts up but he says it has little power. i want to know what you guys think? that would probably mean loss of fuel right? maybe cloged filters maybe the one in the tank clogged banjo fittings? bad fuel? it is a little bit of a drive so i wanted opinions before i made the trip. has anyone ever bought a car like this and found it to be something simple and it ended up being a great car? oh yeah it has around 195K miles on it...

I would be all over it for $500. You could part it out for 4x as much if not more.

I think you nailed it on the power part. Change the filters, clean the banjo fitting, set the valves and drive it.

It is a 300SD, which in my opinion, is one of the toughest cars on the road.

I bought a 1984 300SD with 140K in 1997 and it now has over 380K.

Don't forget that tank screen. My SD probably saved my family thousands in fuel cost.
