I just removed a MB battery from my sisters ml320 that was dated 1998, she left her lights on a few times and it finally died, i was amazed to find such a long liver, especially since my Kragen batteries hardly last a yr or two.

autolite batteries from kragen aren't half bad. once i had one in my 190e track car, and this car is started via one on/off switch to the starter, and another to the fuel pump. i accidentally left the switch to the starter on and it literally burned the negative terminal right off the battery post. but the battery survived! it could of exploded though.

i once thought about leaving my lights on on my 190e when i was at a bar far away from my house. mainly just cause i love my 190e so much, i could spend some more time in it while i called a tow truck while pissed drunk, to drive me home. thought better of it though and just drove home drunk

I have no idea how old my battery is. There is a three letter code on the side of the white MB battery in my 97 E420. Is there a date code list you can share with me?

I have complete service records, but no mention of battery replacement during a couple of roadside calls. Car starts fine, but winter is near - BRRR!

Thats uncanny, I just popped 'charging car battery' into Google when an email came through notifying this thread had been updated -

Twilight zone, dah, doo, dah

Anyway, onto the question in hand; do you need to loosen the small caps which cover the cells when charging and is ok to charge without disconnecting? (that's two questions)
