Ticking

My motor makes a ticking noise. It might be normal, but I wouldn't know being that this is the first MB diesel I have ever owned, so perhaps the noise is normal. It sounds like its coming from the area of the vacuum pump. It stays in time with the motor, and It doesn't seem to go away with the increase of temperature. Its not loud, just kind of blends in with the deisel noise. The motor runs fine too. Again, this could be normal, but I don't know for sure.

My last vehicle, a 2001 f150, died as a result of a spun bearing. While I don't think this is the issue on my MB, I want to prevent it from that ever happening again to any of my cars.
