Cabin pollen filter replacement "How-To"

(I posted this over on the "Tech" board but no bites yet!)

My new filters for my wife's wagon arrived today from Phil - literally LESS than 24hr after placing my order - NOW it's time to install them.

I have looked thru many of the threads via SEARCH as well as doing GOOGLE searches for the 'How-to' on the subject with very little helpful information. I did come across a site that had an illustration that just does not give enough 'detail' for one to actually discern what to remove to get to them.

I can actually see them when the hood is standing 'erect' and with flashlight peering thru the screen on drivers side just beloe the WS wiper. Is there a step-by-step DIY that anyone knows about that they would be kind enough to share? Thanks...

search for blower motor replacement on w124, you will find about 95% of the instructions you need to replace the filter. the rest is just common sense

Oddly enough, when I replaced the cabin air filter on my '95, the replacement filters came with instructions. Maybe this isn't the case with yours, but did you check the box?

I pulled the filters from the box but nothing came 'with them' as I did. I will recheck!

I did this a couple months ago, not a fun job. All I really remember is that all the instructions I could find, including the ones that came with the filters, were woefully inadequate.

Also, that parts of the rain gutter under the windshield were sealed together, and I had to "un-seal" them. Proof that the filters had NEVER been changed. Nevertheless there was quite a horrifying amount of buildup on the them.

Putting the plastic screen back together seemed unusually difficult. I think the pieces may had deformed a bit with heat and age, took forever to get it to fit right. Also, the driver side screen is put together differently than the passenger side. Deceiving, since they look exactly the same.

There is a temperature sensor clipped to the passenger side of the filter box. Be sure it is put back correctly. I think it must sense airflow as well, because I could not get my a/c to work after I put everything back together. I opened it up again to find the sensor still plugged in, but not sitting in it's clip properly. A/C worked fine after that.

You are talking about the '95 right? I say just dive in, but leave yourself a couple hours to figure it out.
