Good, this thread is turning informative. Too bad I did not keep at least one set of IP lines from the cars I have parted. Oh well, they are cheap enough new.
Basically just use all the late components on a late head and you will be fine.

I checked my head casting # and is 22. You can tell if you can reuse injectors from #14 by type of retaining rings - same retainers same injectors. After swaping heads ( changing timing chain,guides,tensioner, timing chain gear, valve lifters) I found that timing chain cavity very forward bolt is to short and I need longer one. Stealer price $35, but beaing ex VW mechanik I walk across the street to VW dealer and found one for $1.85. I told parts guy what Merc guy wanted for it and he just gave it to me under condition that I will go back across the street and rubbed in.

The mechanic that did my new head (#22) used the old straight injectors. I also remember the thread where GSXR weighed in on the subject, but I didn't save it either.

My memory is that he machined the early pre-chambers to have the correct reach, then the early injector assembly will work properly.
