TD rear wiper problem

I need some help on this one. My rear wiper on the TD wagon would stop half way through its cycle (vertical). So I took it apart and found the metal to be crumbling that encircled the shaft.

I assumed this was the problem and purchased a new wiper arm. Everything went together well until it started doing it again. There is a clicking problem when it gets stuck and must be something internal.

Has anyone ever dealt with this and how hard is the wiper motor to work with?

Thanks

Don

Do youself a favor

Greetings Don,

Do yourself a favor and give these guys a call and get a motor off a used Benz. Haggle the price down to below half the original that Fastlane wants.

What was the result?

Don,

Found your posting while searching for info on the rear wiper motor replacement.

From another post I got the impression that you were able to repair it in place. What was your final outcome?

Mine appears to be frozen in the verticle position. I can not move it left or right and it doesn't work nor does the washer spray. They spray may be dependant on the wiper moving.

Thanks,

I took off the casing to the motor and found that as the gearing went around it was too loose. I can't remember how I did it exactly except to say that I drilled some holes and put some screws through in such a way as to apply pressure to the loose piece. It performed well and has held up to date.

I think your best bet is to take off the rear cover to the tailgate and take the cover off the motor and inspect.

Hope this helps

Don

Correct. It was simply missing inside due to sloppy, loose parts.
