Removing 5-spd manual out of 190E 2.3 16V difficulty?
Iam not having any difficulty yet.
I came across a 86 190E 2.3 16v with a manual 5 speed. I was thinking about removing it with shifter and shift rods. I have pulled 240D transmissions at PNP w/o any problems. I remove driveline, cross mount, and the trans and eng sag down and everything is reachable. then just lift trans down and out. The 190 looks a little more cramped in the work space area. not much room at the back of the engine and firewall to get to the upper bolts. Iam wondering if it is possible to remove this 5-spd the same way? any one know how much more the 5 is than the 4-spd? 4-spd isn`t all that bad to manhandle w/o trans jack. just don`t want this thing to do me in. Iam not 20yrs old like I try to think I am ![]() ![]() Charlie
