Harbor Freight diesel compression tester question

Does anyone know what type of quick coupler is on the Harbor Fright diesel compression tester and where I can buy one? I've never seen one like it and hope it's not proprietary. I need one to make an adapter for a VW TDI.

Looks like this one except my kit is more compreshensive with more fittings.

The part I'm looking for is the brass quick coupler at the end of the hose on the gauge.

right.

I don't know the names of the different style quick connectors. There are many variations of the single flange connection.

Yes, there are probably hundreds if not more styles of quick couplers. I have a few made for hydraulics in my collection but this type is different than anything I've seen. There's a center metal plunger in the female coupler that get's pushed in as the male is pushed in. I'm sure there are o-rings in there also (not visible).

You could always make your own out of an old glow plug. Cut the glow end off and pull the insides out. mig a fitting onto the end of it. I have seen one made like that. If ever I can get a pic , I will put it up.

Find a hydraulic / pneumatic hose shop close to you, and walk in with 20 minutes to spare, and the pieces you need to connect.

I ended up getting 2 of these kits at 2 different times,

and the quick disconnect fittings were changed from the early style to a later one-they are not interchangeable. They appear to be custom-made for this kit, I doubt either one is an industry standard.

I am not understanding exacly.

The male ends of the Couplings can be unscrewd from the adapter and used on any adapter that has the same threads.
You could simply unscrew one from the Mercedes Adapter and thread it into the VW TDI Adapter. When you are done put it back on the Mercedes Adapter.

Also you might take it down to NAPA and show it to them and see if they can match it.

Also in my kit there is 2 Glow Plug Adapters. One shorter than the other. You could use that Adapter Threaded into the TDI Adapter.

as for the original poster, I recommend checking all the adapters in the HF kit- seems one may work on a tdi??? or go to a vw forum for help?

One of the Pics has the Number on the label of the Box.
I used the Hose for something and did not put it back. The has has the coupling and a 90 degree bend on it; you can tell from the imprint in the box.

injectors are not magic. but before you remove them, have new heat shields ready to put back in, they are not reusable. also, when you are ready to pull the injectors, have the wrench on and position the handle so you can POP it with your hand, or a hammer, DO NOT PUSH ON THE WRENCH WITH STEADY PRESSURE!@!!!!! you will pop the Prechamber rings out and that is a world of pain to fix!@

Your kit must be different than mine. The adapter that fits the TDI glow plug hole terminates directly to the quick coupler, not to another threaded adapter.

Do the Item Number of mine match Yours?

At the time I bought mine they were selling 2 kits. Mine is the less expensive one but does not have as many adapters as the more expensive one.
