SDL quandry - to sell?

Well, I found a SL500 that I love. While I enjoy the SDL I have always wanted a SL500 as I love convertibles. I am not sure if this is the right one, but sadly if it is I only have room for one car.

The question now is, what would the SDL be worth? It is a 1986 model with 185k on the clock and most if not all records. There is a tear in the passenger seat but other than that everything works. The dash has one very small crack near the speaker hole but other than that it is crack free. The only other thing is the trunk has some oxidation.

Usually rust and service history on the car are the biggest value boosters on the older diesels.

Where are you located?

What is the exterior color?

What is the interior color?

I am in Colorado (around Denver).

The car has the Palomino interior and grey exterior.

There is no rust and the body is in fine shape.

An SDL I believe will always be worth a couple three grand - if they run. They're getting long in tooth at 24 years old for high resale. The cosmetics are going to be important to most buyers though.

I just sold my 86 SDL for $1500 against a $1900 asking price. I disclosed in the listing that it needed brakes, front suspension work and a turbo rebuild. A good running example should bring twice as much.

Here in So Cal you see them advertised for $3k to $7k. I don't know what they sell for though.

I decided I am not going to sell. I like the car too much and I could never get enough for it to make sense to sell.

I guess I get to keep her.

Good decision.

I've been actively looking for an SDL and they are going for about $5k-$6k for one that is rust-free and cosmetically good with very little needed mechanically.

I've located one that I'm hoping to get that's near perfect mechanically but needs some cosmetics. I just have to finish saving up the cash and hope it's still available when I'm funded.
