Moldiest Mercedes

I think I found the moldiest one yet

It's a 300E that I'll make into a 300D, I cant find anything on it's VIN but I have Emailed the Classic Center and maybe get a Decoding from them.. I have an 84 300SD with a 617 Engine. Think it would fit in the 300E?
