need to rig the floor vents open

85 300TD(winter car)

Well my hvac has a major vac leak somewhere so I unplugged the vac line to the system. The leak was causing other vac problems. So it's on the default defrost only with outer side vents. The problem is my feet are cold. I need to know a quick way to make air come out the floor vents. I am not going to track down vac leaks this time of year so that will have to wait. If anyone knows a semi quick way to force a door thingy open to allow warm out of the floor vents please share.

PS. I want to avoid removing the dash and stuff... too cold out for that bs.

Thanks

The pod for the floor vents is just to the right of the accelerator. You should be able to open the vents and rig something in the vicinity of the pod to hold them open.

ok sounds like I can safety wire the pod or something. I will have to look tomorrow.

On a side note.... I finally got my LCA bushings put in today. Drives pretty crazy with all that camber in there now, I need to get an alignment asap. On left turns you can let go of the wheel and it will turn itself all the way to the stop as your moving.

Thanks for the help.

Thanks too. I need to wedge mine open as well.

FYI, do I need a push, pull or weight? I could probably rig something up for the drive home tonight if I knew that. My feet would thank you

I had the same problem, and ending sticking a 90 degree pvc elbow in the opening. I think it was 1/2 inch diameter. Works great now, no more cold feet.

My 84 300Sd has same "hot air only goes to the windshield" problem. I need to jam open the floor vents too. Many thanks for this tip. Too cold now to tear dash apart to fix vac problems. Kevin
