190D won't Start
I really could use some advice on getting my mercedes started. The front 2 injectors on the 4 cylinder engine are not not getting fuel. The back 2 injectors are getting fuel, as can be seen when cracking the lines. Shouldn't the engine be firing in the those 2 cylinders at least? It is in my warm shop and plugged in, so the engine is nice and warm.

190D starting problem
Thanks for helping. We just put the injector pump back on, it was working before removing. We changed the timing belt as well. While turning over the engine, I verified that the pump spits fuel out of each port before attaching the fuel lines. The bcak two are getting fuel to the injectors, but the front two are dry. The lines are clean. I long does it take to get fuel through the lines? I don't want to fry my starter.

Injector and Pump
I haven't done any preventative maintainence, I do have the injectors soaking in methanol as we speak though. What do you mean OM601?

You'll get a lot more responses in Diesel Discussion
![]() The OM601 should be the engine in your 190D (from the 4 cylinder description - probably either '84 or '85). I believe the later years were the 5 cylinder OM602. It takes a bit of time to get the air out of the injector lines. I recently did the delivery valves o-rings at the injection pump, and it was a lot of cranking before it would catch. I'm not sure if you can get it to start on two cylinders...getting started on four (out of six) on mine was a bit of work. A warm, fully charged battery does help a lot. So, there was fuel at the injection pump, and then nothing at the injectors? How much have you been cranking? I'd recommend only 10 or so seconds at a time, and time for the starter to rest (maybe a minute or so) What was the IP off for?

Injector Pump on a 190D
When I got the car, the timing chain was off and needing to be replaced. The guy wasn't able to do the job himself, so he decided to sell it. The injector pump was pulled as well, but he said that it just need to be put back on. I am going to check the glow plugs though.

Gotta Have Diesel Fuel @ Injectors to Start
IF , the Timing is correct...
Crazy Nate is correct...spin the starter for only 10 seconds @ a time (20 second rest between efforts,to protect the Starter) If you've got fuel at the top of the Injection Pump ,you're almost home free. IF your Hard Metal Injection Lines ARE NOT BLOCKED... Loosen the Injector Lines at the Cap-nuts on the Injectors and Gently Crank until you've Diesel @ Each Injector. (It might take a few cycles) 'Tighten Cap-nuts...Glow and Start.
