Angry 80 300td brake lines leaking

As I was working on the another problem, the brake line for the drivers side rear blew and started spewing all over the place. I guess I should expect these rust things to happen in the northeast and the fact the car sat for several years. I might as well just replace the entire section of brake line from the front to the back. What size should I get. Do I need to get metric or would 3/16 brake line work. What size fitting should I get to do the job also. This SUCKS!!!!

Would something like this work??? It looks to good to be true!

If one blew... the others cant be too far behind. Id be replacing them all before disaster strikes.

Almost any chain can give you the right size and length of brake line.

That e-bay offering looks good. The bubble flair used by Benz is difficult to produce using available hand tools.

At $50ish bucks... its a nice deal with everything supposedly to factory specs. The seller has been around for awhile and has an acceptable rating.

The FSM recommends changing out the brake fluid every couple of years I think... it is one of those fluids which attracts moisture... and at low spots can rust out the steel line from the inside... good thing it did not blow when you were going fast and needing the brakes...

Please post back on how it turns out and the quality of the kit.

I had an '80 300TD a few years back and the rear driver's side blew on that one too. It was between the body and rear subframe. FYI, I did not need to lower the subframe to change the line. It is a tight fit but you can get it in there. I bought the line from the local Mercedes dealer... it was cheap. Comes in a coil and you just unwind it and bend it to shape.
