OM617 Rocker Arm Removal
Im going to replace the valve stem seals on my 76 300D. I have already done the seals on cylinders 1 and 2 but it got dark so i'll finish up on the other 6 valves tomorrow, but I have a question first.
For cylinder 1 and 2 the rocker arms come out in a set of 2, no problem, just position the camshaft where both cylinders have there rocker arms free(not pressed). But on on cylinders 3-5 the rocker arms come out in a set of 3. Is it possible to position the cam where it isn't pressing on any of the rockers arms so I can remove the whole set? I don't think so....... So whats the trick to pulling the rocker arms on cylinders 3-5? Thanks

I have one, but it says remove the bolts and pull out rocker arms, LOL.
I found a old thread that states the postion in which the group of 3 rockers can be removed, when lobe #5 is at the 12 o'clock postion. Its a a tight squeeze but they can be removed with a bit of force.
