ACCII CCU install

Hey guys,

So tomorrow I'm going to install a replacement CCU in to Norm. It's ACCII, so it's the ultra retro boxy looking thing.

Anywho, has anyone done this before? I'm guessing so, but couldn't find a writeup. From the looks of it I need to pull the center console out. Is this correct?

Should be a fun day project if everything goes smoothly.

Thanks!

Yep you gotta pull out the console.

Just make marks where the old one was mounted because the new one needs to be in the exact same spot or the wood trim and plastic back will not fit correctly between the controls and the console.

I just did this exact swap a few weeks ago in my 1980 300D.

I usually photo everything, but this seemed so routine I did not.

1. Remove drivers seat (if you have an armrest attached).
1 10mm on rear hump for seatbelt.
4 10mm bolts. Slide seat forward and do rear, then do front.

2. Remove window/hazard/speaker fade switches.

3. With seat out you can remove complete center console.
1 screw through bottom into tunnel.
1 screw at front to loosen panel that holds window/hazard switches.

4. Remove ashtray - I think.

5. remove 4 switches above CCU. (sunroof, ant, light, rear def).

Console should come up and out now.

4 bolts with 8mm heads hold CCU on. (at least on my W123).

The lights were tricky, and this was a good chance to test and replace
burnt bulbs.

Good Luck.

I wish they had made that piece replaceable without removing the console.
