Got a new book

My daughter bought me a book today: My Mercedes is not for sale. It's a tale of a Dutchman who drives a 1988 190d from Holland to Burkina Fasso, across the Sahara.
Maybe the author is a friend of our Dutch TD Africa-driving member.

Interesting indeed, it might be a friend of Jurgen's.

300TD.org has all the good info on Jurgen's trips.

I read the amazon reviews, it sounds pretty good. I just found the ebook online, I might have to buy it next.

Not to hijack - but I've found a couple decent MB books on Amazon. The one sitting on the coffee table in front of me is called "Enduring Passion" which summarizes MB from its roots into the Daimler-Chrysler merger. Haven't gotten a chance to read it all yet but I'm rather disappointed by its lack of emphasis diesels...otherwise very good. Slowly the roomates will all be driving diesel MBs

To get even further off the subject, I saw a 1903 Benz Parsifal at the Ford museum in Dearborn today:

I'm about 60 pages in. He's a more thoughtful, better writer than Stroh who recently wrote about his trip in a diesel G-Wagon from Vail, CO to Tierra Del Fuego and back.

Interesting piece on the Stroh family and its fortune.
