So...what we need to do next is a workshop day. Find a location with a lift, have everyone bring tools and parts they want to install or replace, and use our combined knowledge and experience to get it done. If some shop/facility was willing to host such and event, we could all chip in a few bucks for use of the building. I was thinking this summer? Any thoughts? Pierre can supervise but this time he needs to let me buy his lunch!

Do we have any of those "hourly lift rental" places around here?

Just throwing this out there, a friend of mine lives on an Air Ranch and has a hanger where he wants to put a lift but has not yet. It would be a GREAT place for a GTG with plenty of room for parking, wrenching, grilling, etc. How would you guys feel about that? It is in Ocala. Which was more than 2 hrs and 15 minutes from Titusville. About 1:15 from Orlando, Tampa, and Lakeland.

I have not run this by him yet but I think he would be cool with it. And maybe I can sell a car to help fund a lift for said event. I could also have a local 30 year Benz mechanic hang out for the day to give advice. We could knock out lots of difficult job with out collective knowledge, special tools, and experience.

Businesses won't take on that kind of liability.

Joe, were you madly deleting incriminating threads last night?

Tech day or not, how would everyone feel about the possible location for a GTG?

Ocala GTG

Jonathan,

I think it's a great idea!

Enjoyed your stories about the 300D and 190E that you brought back to life.

As a resident of Ocala, you can count on my attendance. I can offer many suggestions for participants desiring spirited driving tours through Marion County's scenic countryside.

Is it the Leeward Air Ranch that you're referring to?

Leeward Air Ranch is the place! I had not even considered that Ocala is a great place for a Benz cruise, there are lots of great scenic paths around. I would LOVE to start the meet at 8AM for whoever can make it then, work on some pre-planned projects together, and as more people show up go do lunch (or cater some BBQ) and then take a cruise.

Like I said, my friend (if willing) has a hanger without planes full of tools and equipment, a nice 123, two 124s, a few saabs, a VW, an S-Class...so we would be in good company and I think he would love it!

Let me know if anyone is intersted or if Ocala would be too far out of the way. Also, if this needs to be moved to a new thread, please do so. I do not mean to Hi-jack if I am doing so. Thanks!
