1993 300D SEDAN QUESTION
I HAVE BEEN LOOKING TO BUY ANOTHER 1984 OR 1985 300SD. I HAVE BOTH AND HAVE BEEN BLENDING FUEL FOR 3 YEARS PLUS. I FOUND A 1993 300D WITH 305,000 MILES ON IT. MY QUESTION IS THE 1993 300D AS TOUGH AS THE 1985 300SD.I CAN BUY THIS CAR FOR $3250. THOUGHTS AND SUGGESTIONS PLEASE. THANKS JACK

The use of capitalization is indicative of YELLING on the internet. You might get more responses if you use it more appropriately.
The 1993 300D is a newer chassis, the W124. The engine should be the OM602, the 5-cylinder turbodiesel engine. 300k miles is a decent amount. I would not look at that vehicle if it does not have a clear and consistent history of maintenance. The OM60x seem to be less tolerant to neglect than their predecessors (616, 617). Check for rust, A/C and climate control operation, sunroof operation, oil in coolant / coolant in oil, etc. There's plenty of information on the chassis (including a thread of mine while I was shopping for a W124 diesel). A pre-purchase inspection and possibly a compression test would probably be a decent investment if the car is worth further consideration.

Thanks for the input. I cannot pull up craiglist because I am at work and they have a block on it. This car is on a lot in Fayettville N.C. I just do not know enough about the different models.

Honestly there are very few w124 300Ds that I would touch with 300K+ on the clock. It would have to be absolutely flawless and well maintained, and at a good price. Even the OM617s start to get iffy with that many miles (although there are plenty well-maintained cars with more on here). I agree with the other posters, the price is far too high for the mileage...I would estimate it about half of the asking price.
