300SDL Fluctuating Temp. Gauge Fixed By Glow Plug Wire

This is a strange story to me.
My temperature gauge had been oscillating - like a a bad ground .
So, I have 2 glow plugs that go bad and I replace all 6.
Glow plug wire number 1 is loose when I get to replacing that glow plug.
With GP wire no. 1 now firmly connected, my temperature gauge no
longer bobs up and down (oscillates).

Strange - yes?

FWIW - I found that removing 2 throttle linkages made it fairly easy to replace
all of the hard to reach glow plugs.
