oil seperator drain
I have looked for hours trying to find info on the california engine oil seperator. I have found some info but nothing describing where condensed oil drains back to. My car has the oil pan without the second drain in pan. There is only the turbo drain. Someone removed Cali air box and installed a federal. Will I have to tap my own hole for a drain in the upper oil pan? Or is it best to install an oil trap?

there is no separator on this model.
the blowby is vented directly into the turbo intake tube with an additional air bypass tube running from the top of the air filter. if you google for pictures, you will find the setup. If you do a search here, you will find pictures as well. |

modifying the oil pan is a bad idea and not worth the oil saved. Search for a catch can and rig some plumbing up.
