Restoring the body of my 300d

Thought you guys might like to see the progress Ive made on my 1985 300d. It has been in my family for 25 years. The car was purchased brand new by my great aunt and I purchased the car from my uncle about 3 months ago. Mechanically the car is in excellent shape. It has always been well maintained and the transmission was just rebuilt about 10k miles ago. The interior is like brand new however, the exterior had seen better days. It had the typical new england body rot. Passenger rear wheel arch both rockers behind the front wheels and both front fenders all needed some attention. Luckly I am no stranger to body work. I bought a replacement rear quarter panel from sherman parts and two good rust free fenders from a used benz parts dealer. I also bought a good used hood and drivers side door because of some nasty dents that would have been a nightmare to fix. I cut out the rotten rear wheel arch and welded in the new arch from sherman parts. I cut out the rot from the rockers and welded in repair panels I made from steel I had left over from a bumper/ tire carrier I made for my Range Rover classic. After all the rot was repaired I coated everything in por 15 , and did my bodywork. 2 coats of primer, 1 coat of sealer and 4 coats of ppg urethane singlestage classic white and she should last another 25 years. I am still in the process of putting all the trim back on. I am pretty much putting the car back to stock with the exception of adding euro headlights and polished 16 inch clk wheels. I will update the pics as I get things finished up. These some crappy iphone pics, some during and some finished.

Wow!

Looks really nice. Great job.

I am in the process of doing some body work using Por15.

Was it pretty easy to use? Any advise for a newbie?

Thanks for sharing.
