need help replacing motor mounts, tips needed!

I am hoping(praying) that someone has first hand experiance removing/installing the motor mounts on a W126 300SD. Mine are shot, well one of them is, but i'm going to do both at once, as they both look old and i'm sure the other one is going to fail soon. No need doing this twice. Be as detailed as you can please. Thanks,
Ryan

A BIG pry bar and a lift are recommended for this job!

R&R only one mount at a time. The engine will shift (which is why you need the pry bar later on). Basically, loosen the center bolt first, then jack the engine up a little (put a block of wood on your jack saddle to evenly distribute the force on the oil pan), remove the center bolt and raise the engine some more to allow for the new mount to be installed. You will have to remove two (10mm, I think?) allen bolts to get the mount free from the subframe. Place the new mount in there, tighten down the allen bolts and realign engine over the mount with help of pry bar and start the center big bolt. BE CAREFUL!!! You can easily damage the threads in the aluminum mount arm! If the bolt doesn't go in cleanly, DON'T FORCE IT! Take your time, and as I said, do one side at a time. An assistant is also helpful if you can't get good leverage to pry the engine over.

Do a search

Do a search on motor mounts and you will find a wealth of info.

If you want someone to call in the middle of the job, send me a private message and I'll send you my number so I can return the favor that "MR MOTOR MOUNT" Jim Smith gave to me when I was in the middle of my job.
