W123 300D - what is this wire?

Dear All,

I'm in the middle of cleaning up the floor pan (driver's side foot well) on my 300D and I've come across an already broken wire. (Honestly I didn't break it Chief!)

As several electrical things don't work on the car I'm not sure what it is meant to be for. I haven't found the other end yet! It goes up to the fuse box next to the main bundle of wires but I don't know to which fuse it is connected.

Before I rip out the fuse box can anyone tell me what it is for?

Does it look like it is standard? Or is it likely to be an after market addition?

Here is a photograph to show what I mean.

Thanks in advance for any help / comments you may give.
