92 300D W124 Front End Work Shocks and Springs

Hello all,
306000 on the odometer. My front left shock/strut is shot. Front end sags. Brought it to the shop for tires and alignment. They couldn't one of the alignment into specs due to the front end sag. Need new springs and shocks.
Ordered the parts online. No local place could even compare on prices. Did research here in the past postings. Ordered Bilsteins, stops, new springs, and spacers. Was planning on doing the work my self. Looked locally for a spring compressor. Not one to be found. One of the parts places recommended to take the car to a local shop. They charge $60 an hour flat rate. It came out to $220 to change out the shocks and springs. Its $109 for the alignment after (they use another shop for that).
Dropped the car off this morning. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Bob

Got car back. Nice. Front end is quieter over bumps, seem to sit a bit higher. The old shocks/struts were totally shot. The bumpers were also toast. Life is better. parts and labor about $500 but it stills beats having a car payment.

My 300D 3.0L had shot front shocks, it would actually rub under braking and turning. New bilsteinHDs sorted that out.

Glad to hear it worked out. $500 isn't bad at all.

Yeap. I know the rub sound. Took it for a nice ride with the wife, even she noticed a difference. That's saying a lot. LOL

I can't believe the front end wore out at just 306,000 miles!
