Noisy Power Steering Pump

I searched the forum for info on this issue, and could not find an answer...

This just started

Problem: In the morning, the power steering pump groans like it's low on fluid, when ever I turn the steeing wheel It goes away after the engine is warmed up.

The filter was changed last summer, and the level is with in normal range.

I'm wondering if I need to change the filter again and do a flush on the system.

Thanks!

It's possible. There is no belt squeal though. And the noise increases as engine rpm increases from idle. Idle is at approx 700 rpm according to the tach.

A flush and new filter might take care of it.

Also, there is a repair kit available at fastlane. I've never known anyone to rebuild one so I'm unfamiliar with how effective but evidently there is a demand.
