Learned a lesson today
I learned that it's a bad idea to do an oil change outside on a windy day
The oil got blown all over and it took longer to clean up than do the 3 or 4 projects I was doing on the car.

yup
happens. when i was in 7th grade, i volunteered to change the oil in my dad's Oldsmobile 98 with my cool jean jacket on. Old oil came out fine, without a mishap, but the new oil going in (Arco Graphite - anyone remember that stuff?) splashed on my arm and wrecked the jacket. Damn, I was mad. I'm still flippin mad.

When I have been this situation, I pull the plug, then slide some 4X6, 2x6 etc... under the pan to lift it up to the bottom of the pan.
I usually have these ready to slide under before hand. Charlie

I know whatcha mean....
My diesel coach gets it's oil changed out on the driveway of my residence or on a Walmart parking lot somewhere in the country while travelling. I use a cardboard berm of sorts when it's that windy. But sometimes the thin wisps of oil draining get blown sideways from the oil pan... |
