a/c in 91 vs 93...
the 93 has 134 factory, the 91 has 12
the condensers look identical. not parallel flow or anything... is the compressor different? I'd like to upgrade... is upgrade a good word? the 91 a/c to the 93's 134a setup. I'm thinking swap the hoses, compressor and condenser... and put in a new txv... and of course dryer etc. smart?

Not in my opinion.
Much better to make sure the system you have is really clean and working properly. Most of our cars have NEVER had the fins on the Evaporator cleaned...and this is a direct problem with regards to what you feel in the car. I do not have a manual for your relatively late model automobile... and you might even get lucky and it be easier to clean those fins than it is in our 123's... which is what I compare everything to. I will be happy to try to guide you through the most useful , cheapest, and effective processes to try before you attempt ' upgrade'... the most important thing you need to know is that the Bottleneck in ANY and ALL AC systems is ' Air across the Condenser'... NOT THE SIZE OF THE COMPRESSOR. Thus all the hassle, expense and problems with attempting to ' upgrade' a compressor ( unless you have the very old York type) has an extremely high chance of not even being noticed in terms of ' cold in your face'...

nahh, it's a customer's car. you know the drill. a/c not cooling well, or at all... and I got a parts car to rape, and it's got a working 134a/c system... just bouncing ideas.
it's obviously an early 134 system, might even be all the same parts, with 134 and a different txv. no idea. I am now thinking of just changing the dryer, and txv and flushing the system, and checking the oil to see if any debris are present. vacuum recharge and set it back to 12. yeah... sounds better to me.
