Thinking about a repaint - window seals, door gasket opinions
I replaced the hood & will use it as an excuse to repaint the car. I'll have to decide what to do about the rubber seals & don't want to be cheap now if it means dissatisfied for years to come.
OEM will have a higher price but incremental increase may not be too bad. Has anyone had good results with aftermarket front & rear glass seals, door & trunk seals. What have you done for the hood pad?

I used either a Uro or GK drivers door seal. I don't have which brand I used in the records. It still whistles with a cross wind. That is what I was trying to get rid of. So I wouldn't suggest those brands

I replaced both front door seals on the 85 last year. bought new plastic clips for the metal strip etc... the old ones were in dire need for replacement.
I bought these off E-bay a few years ago, came in a plastic bag with a part#. probably made in Tiawan. They went on ok, I did notice the originals have a piece of cloth in the corner to help it side some as the door closes. the replacements don`t. The R/F door leaks water. I went through a carwash and thought the window wasn`t all the way up, water was coming in along the top, running down the window getting the seat wet . luckly I had a couple,of towels with me. even washing the car at home, and not shooting water a to the door with force, it leaks. I still get wind noise some on the L/F door. The old gaskets were cracked, dried out, but didn`t leak. maybe the new ones are a little shorter along the width. Iam thinking of ordering new ones from Phill, and maybe they will be MB quality. sometimes it is better to go original with the MB Star. I still have the 2 for the rear doors and 2 for the W126. Another problem I had when first installing them, I really had to put some force to close the doors. they are getting easier, I guess the rubber is getting squished down. when these cars were new, they didn`t make the door hard to shut. probably was a thunk, and solid. I decided to go with OEM seals and hood pad for everything, after reading some mixed reviews about aftermarket products. I called Phil , the price was a cheaper than my dealer with no sales tax or shipping... My order should be delivered when I get the car back in a few days.
