Another place to check is Fastenal. They are nearly everywhere and have online website ordering as well.

Did you clean ALL the oil from the matting surface of the head before trying to torque the valve cover down? If not that could be why it leaked.

Fastenal sells metric double-ended studs up to 95mm in lenghth. No, they may not be identical, with the flange, would likely work. I don't know off-hand what size is needed but here are the ones they carry:
