Testing wagon SLS without an engine.

Hello everybody, i picked up a rust free 1983 300TD wagon for 400 bucks yesterday. Its a sweet car with a manual sunroof, roof rack bars, and 3rd row seat. The downside is that it has a salvage title and no motor. The SLS system appears to be intact. I have the pump connected to the lines upfront, i am wondering if i can hook a drill, or a motor of some sort to the pump and prime it up to see if the system works. Anybody know if this is possible?

its a high pressure system i think you would need to mount it on something, and the drill as well. I'd just put the correct engine in, and test it from there. if it doesn't work, you can always troubleshoot the connected system.

I kind of doubt you're going to be able to spin the pump fast enough with a drill to pressurize the system. I'd just put an engine in a see what happens. If nothing is leaking in the back, the system will probably work, but might need new accumulators or the valve may need re-sealing. Those two things are the most common issues in the SLS system. You might also think about replacing the high pressure line from the pump while there is no engine. Less mess and hassle. And then you'll know that it's not going to be an issue down the road.
