Brake Fluid

1985 300TDT 280kmi

Other than the boiling point is there a difference between Dot3 and Dot4 brake fluid? Are there better brands?

Why do some manufacturers say only use Dot4 (ex. '84 Volvo 244)? Do their brakes run hotter?

I know the manual for my 300TD says either 3 or 4 will work. Even mixing is said to be OK.

Can someone in the ether shed some light on this topic.

Thanks for your time,
Alec.
