Mrs B heads (back) west...
Drove the 79 300D from Athens, GA to College Station, TX last week (930 miles; 700 miles day 1, 230 day 2). She performed nearly flawlessly, and averaged a little over 26 MPG. This surely would have been a little higher if I had driven with the windows up (no A/C). The only issues that came up were some irregular temps (nothing extreme, but sometimes she would run about 10 degrees hot. Could just be the temp sensor, or perhaps its time for a citric acid flush) and a cracked/leaking return barb on one of the injectors.
Regardless, here are some pics from the drive: A quick stop for breakfast for me in Conyers, GA. Breakfast for Mrs B in Birmingham, AL. Obligatory stop by the MB factory/visitors center/museum in Tuscaloosa (anyone have straight/rust-free front and rear passenger side doors in maple yellow?). Another Bojangles stop for me. Not sure how I'll survive in TX without Bojangles. My new favorite burrito joint. Mrs B settling in in her new driveway.

What city is Freebirds in?
On Mexican food - I similarly wonder how the rest of the country gets along without true Mexican found in Texas and the Southwest... Last edited by Skid Row Joe; 05-16-2010 at 05:23 PM. |

Freebirds seems to be in a handful of places in TX, but that particular one is in College Station.

We are so deprived up here in Canada even a staple like okra is non existant except for some horrible chinese import. On the otherhand we may have some food component that is not available in the south as well. I just cannot place them at the moment.
Nice car and nice drive by the way. |

My favorite Montreal haunt: Chenoy's home of the two-pound (1 kilo) smoked meat sandwich! With obligatory 1 pound plate of poutine: French fries covered with hot cheddar cheese! And a pitcher of Molson's!! Beauty way to go, eh?

College Station isn't on the way to anywhere for me - I mostly spend my time in the larger cities. I'll keep it in mind though, Thanks!
