Front end rebuild question

I am planning on rebuilding the front end suspension and steering parts. Everything but the shocks and springs for now. I've got all the parts, just waiting on time mostly. My question is alignment related though. Obviously I will need to have an alignment done. Is a 4 wheel alignment critical or is a 2 wheel suffice? I'm sure the car's never had all 4 done. It's less than $30 more for the 4 wheel, but what is the feel on the 4 wheel alignments?

For anyone who knows the answer.
A long the same lines if your Rear Alignment is off how do they adjust it?

Les Schwabs quotes me $55 for the front end, and $81 for all four, though they didn't as me what kind of car I had.

most machines now do all 4 anyway. they hook up to all 4 wheels and the machine does the rest. if the rear is out, you should want to know about it. don't know if it can be adjusted though...

A "four wheel alignment" on a W123 or a W126 simply means that they have a couple of sensors on the rear wheels to ensure that both the front and rear wheels are parallel to each other.

This prevents the vehicle from going down the road slightly "crabbed" because the rear wheels are off slightly from the front wheels.

Personally, I believe that the standard alignment that ignores the rear wheels is probably satisfactory for the vast majority of these vehicles. The very small error in the track is not noticeable by the average driver.

Nothing on the rear is adjustable anyway so I wouldn't spend the money unless the car had exibited some reason to wonder if it is crabbing.

Maybe I'll put that $30 into something else then. There is no odd tire wear pattern in the rear. So I'll just leave it be, and have them do the front.
