Kicking the tires, anyone know how this here thing works? Or my new 87 300d.
Car has ~250k and has sat more or less for 2 years after po wife died. Burns no oil, shows no smoke. Po said never used oil. I asked specifically about overheating. Radiator has a pinhole he says (never saw anything). Trans leaks about 1 q every 2 weeks.
Drove my new 87 300D back from Raleigh to Atlanta without issue (I may have maxed out my CC at JR's cigars). Car needs work and I got a list of questions. 1. Front end wallows, shocks? 2. Rear end sways a bit much, bushing kit? 3. Go pedal has no go but good torque, this thing need an Alda cleaning? Did 80 most of the way back and it held but for all but a couple hills, clearly I expect more. 0-40mph approached infinity. Gonna change filter as well. How do I see if the go pedal is making the ip max out (does it have the same problem as the w123s? 4. Anyone have a good oe radiator they want to sell me? 5. Around cylinder 1 and 2 there is a rapping, tapping gently at my chamber door. At idle, less than gentle. Off idle it goes away. Hydraulic lifters? What should I be looking for here? 6. Water temp gauge, never came off 80. Are these fairly reliable? See question number 4. 7. Safe to pressure wash engine? 8. Transmission, clunks in ever gear and has a "upper seal" leak. Good bet its the modulator? (Will look at leak tomorrow asap). 9. Drivers seat, one side at the bottom moves, not the other. Something very solid in the middle of the seat, WTF is that? How hard is it to fix these seats. 10. The fancy LCD should show temperature correct? Time to find a FSM.
